Would you prefer Jack the Ripper or the Texas Chainsaw Massacre? That's what choosing between Democrats and Republicans is like.
The list of issues where both parties are so blatantly wrong is as long as the list of issues of this country. This post only touches on the surface because for every issue there is a misguided Democratic Party position and a misguided Republican position. Neither seems to be able to have a clear, practical, problem solving approach; instead they see everything through the lens of their ideologies.
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
__
Both parties are blatantly hypocritical.
They're very happy to point out the flaws in the other party and totally ignore their own flaws.
They care more about winning than about truth and are quite comfortable with lies being promulgated if they make the other side look bad
both sides consume a steady stream of propaganda from their partisan media, which does its best to inflame them with fear and anger towards the other side. Their partisan media often blatantly lies to them but people totally believe the lies without question.
They both are right about some things and wrong about others. If their leaders say or do something, they believe and defend it. Anything the other side says or does they attack as wrong.
Really they're like two warring tribes or two rival street gangs.
It is not surprising that the problems of the country do not get solved and in fact get exacerbated.

Usually when someone criticizes the Democrats people say “you must be Republican” and similarly if one criticizes the Republicans “you must be a Democrat”. There is so much to criticize in both of these miserable excuses for representation of the American people.
There are third parties but in a system where you have to choose one, instead of a system like ranked choice voting, most of us feel forced to vote for one or the other.
Choosing between Democrats and Republicans is like choosing between being strangled or shot.
Not particularly good choices.
After many years of telling everybody they should vote and at least pick the lesser of two evils I find myself no longer able to vote for Democrats and unwilling to vote for Republicans.
____
For most of my life I considered the Democrats the lesser of two evils. However given their recent behavior and beliefs in regards to social issues and Covid policies such as vaccine mandates, at this point Democrats may very well be the greater of two evils. Both parties suck.
Really in many ways they are just two wings of one party, The CCP, Corporate Capitalist Party. Both parties agree on the basic ideas of the economy and simply disagree on the details, Democrats generally supporting a kinder gentler version of capitalism, Republicans believing that business owners should be able to do whatever they want with no restriction whatsoever and absolutely no social responsibility.
Like the difference in slave owners in the Old South. Some slave owners believed the slaves should at least have enough to eat and warm clothes, other slave owners saw them as disposable and not worth spending money on, but nobody disagreed on the essential institution of slavery.
Most people don't realize this basic agreement between the two parties because they both spend so much time doing their best to distract people and create conflict by talking about social issues and arguing over details of economic policy, but when it comes to making sure that the wealthy get taken care of and wars get fought, both parties are in full agreement, despite a lot of rhetoric to the contrary
_
At this point in time Republicans have not gotten better but Democrats have gotten far worse.
In general both sides have what amounts to a religious fundamentalist attitude, Republicans towards capitalism and Democrats towards their new social ideas.
___
Democrats have become fiercely anti-democratic Thought Police who now hate and want to destroy the basic foundations of American democracy -freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of information and the basic right of people to think and decide for themselves. Instead Democrats have embraced unquestioning authoritarian control of the populace.
They believe that people should not be allowed to think for themselves, should only be allowed access to officially approved sources, and should not be allowed to speak freely.
*They are against freedom of information
*They are against freedom of the press
*They are against freedom of Speech
*They are for censorship.
*They believe that no one should be allowed to say anything they do not approve of.
The Thought Police. If they had the technology they would probably try and go inside people's brains to make sure nobody has any unapproved thought. Short of that they do their best to suppress anything their intolerant narrow minds do not want to hear.
*Their version of diversity does not include diversity of opinion.
Their vision is people of all races, creeds and colors thinking, speaking and acting only in ways of which they, the Thought Police, approve.
Democrats have done their best to exercise totalitarian control of opinion. The Thought Police harass, bully and abuse those contravening their demands/ orders for compliance with their dictates.
____
Dems seem to have a blind trust in their leaders and those they consider authorities, especially medical authorities and Big Pharma.
They believe that people should not have freedom of medical choice and should be forced into procedures against their will, ie Vaccine Mandates and that any doctors, scientists or researchers presenting any evidence to the contrary should be suppressed and labeled misinformation.
They ignore science while saying “trust the science”. They believe what their media tells them about science without examining the actual science and they refuse to examine any evidence presented by anyone their media tells them they should not listen to.
___
In the name of anti-racism they have adopted a number of racist views and have done their best to put this into schools and laws.
Instead of believing that people should be judged for who they are rather than the color of their skin. For example,Democrats have adopted the belief that white people are inherently oppressors and black people are inherently victims.
In fact Democrats seem to believe that everyone is either a victim or an oppressor and they are determined to institute this ideology in all school systems, indoctrinating children starting in their very first classroom. It's really very similar to the way Christian Conservatives try to take control of the educational process.

Republicans are generally against anything that will help working people and for anything that will help business owners. They hate anything with the word public or social in it, like public transportation, Amtrak and the post office. They believe that business owners should be able to do whatever they want, without any regulation, with no regard whatsoever for the social consequences.
They have a blind faith in competition and a belief that everyone should be a good slave. They believe that owners of property and businesses should be able to do whatever they want. If jobs are paying $1 an hour and landlords are raising rent to $1,000 for a one bedroom, Republicans believe people should just work hard and not complain.
So for example, Republicans are horrified at street crime but if an investment company buys an apartment building filled with people on low incomes, such as seniors on social security, Republicans believe that the new owners should be able to raise the rent as high as they want and throw people in the street and that any restrictions on that are an affront to the freedom of the owners.
In fact Republicans would probably support some sort of tax credits for the business, because in general Republicans believe that the role of government is to support the rich in their business endeavors.
They have no problem with business owners accumulating billions of dollars while the people who work for them can't even afford a decent place to live.
Republicans complain about immigrants driving wages down while ignoring the effects of unrestrained capitalist greed.
In addition Republicans see nature the way a termite sees the Mona Lisa. They regret the destruction of nature but if that means somebody is going to get a job they consider it necessary. They don't question the system that creates that situation. That is why they are against any regulations designed to protect the environment. The idea of cancer causing chemicals in the environment is less threatening to them than the idea of not having a job.
I could go on and on about both parties
